End of the Chalk and Blackboard?
I've made such a hard decision (gags) to quit teaching. Hahahaha. Officially my last day of teaching was on my Birthday and my what a lovely birthday present it was to myself. One of the best I'd say. E.V.E.R As much as I love sharing the world of biology and whatever else I have to teach to a classroom full of wide eyed seeming eager, knowledge-hungry crowd of restless teenagers, I love not doing it. Hahahahah. Anyway, enough gloating. I do like to teach I must say but I'm very keen to change my listening crowd to that of an older, more mature and ernest group of people. Hopefully, one day, I can . And hopefully it would be a subject that is useful, meaningful and helpful to the world. Something which is more heartfelt and beneficial to the human race. Who knows what it is?
Totara Estate
The place of much beauty and solitude. More solitude than beauty but somewhat exciting nonetheless. I've got to make the best of everything. This is where I'm working. Before you get toooo excited, its the birthplace of the frozen meat industry in NZ. Beautiful old Oamaru stone buildings in a picturesque setting. An urban gal taking much delight in settling into her rural country job. I work amongst preserved archeological building remains and hungry sheep.
One of the four buildings on site.
Two years in NZ
So elections in Singapore have come and gone. Two out of the very many ain't exactly super exciting but I'm not into political stuff. Its interesting to be able to compare governments at a superficial level ( in my case) ie whatever is in the superficial news. Doesn't bother me too much. I'm not about to do a point by point comparison about Labour and National or the Green party (Political Parties in NZ) to PAP or SDP or WP etc. But I do know that housing and cars are considerably cheaper. (Petrol prices are about the same) And I don't have to worry about paying ERP when I drive into town.I can speed up to 100ks here (or more sometimes, ahem). But migrating here and settling in has been pretty much smooth sailing except for the nail biting, heart wrenching bit about trying to get a full time permanent job. Love the four seasons in a year and sometimes in a day, love the rainy weather (when I'm cosily at home by the fire watching DVDs). Decided that we both are not true gardeners at heart, at least not yet and left the gardening to a pro. Thank heavens! But I've been really busy doing all the things I've never got to do in Sg. I'm into TKD, Arnis, Yoga, Massage, Aromatherapy and watching lots of Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan DVDs etc. Pure B.L.I.S.S.
Holidays have been mostly confined parts of NZ but the trip back to Sg in Dec 2010 further cements the reasons why we left. Except for the parts when I met up with friends and family over food and more food. Doubt we will be going to Sg soon. Cheap Air Asia and Jetstar fares simply means you... yes you.. the privileged one reading my blog... can come visit.
Royal Wedding
I'm not a Prince William fan nor Kate Middleton fan but the royal wedding has won my heart with truth and beauty. Its not an act for one and its not arranged and I hope they will live happily ever after. Love Pippa too.... :)
Singapore and Australia
Here are some pics taken on my camera phone when we were in Sg and Oz. The highlight would definitely have to be Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Pity we were 2 weeks early for the Australian Open. One day, one day I will be there..... Better yet, I'll go for all the grand slams. Better yet, I'll go for all four with Nadal winning each Slam. Better yet, I'll meet him, the King of Clay!
A Sg flag in Rod Laver. Seriously!!!
So thats all for now. Procrastinated enough. Will definitely upload campervan pics of our tour of the North Island soon. Stay tuned!
