Hi everyone!
I miss ya all! :)
Basically, I'm going around NZ in 3 months, was in the North Island (boring) but now we are in the South Island ( gorgeous!) We rented a car and bought a tent to camp out (at times). South Island is really beautiful with the numerous mountains, lakes and driving is superb (speed speed).
Driving
Is so fun to drive here. No ERPs, no traffic jams, no horning, everyone gives way. As soon as you signal, the car behind immediately slows down and gives way. The speed limit here is like 100 km/hr.
Food and Shelter
Expensive! But we try to stay at motels where we can cook. A bacon and egg breakfast can cost as much as $15-18 a plate. But we try to cook our own. Many Chinese takeaways here too, so no prob. We bought a tent and some utensils to camp by the lake and stay in cheaper tent sites. A tent site costs about $30 for 2 px (shared facilities, with ducking quacking outside) while a motel costs abt $110 (comfy with kitchen and tv and own parking lot.. some with spa... u get the idea)
Lake tekapo
We just came from Lake Tekapo which is a gorgeous blue lake with snow capped mountains surrounding it. We went up hiking to Mt John (dont be fooled its only a 3hr climb).
Christchurch
I LOVE CHRISTCHURCH! That summarises it all. It has lovely beaches and a small unovercrowded town- take that Orchard Road!
Christmas Sale!
Those intending to buy camping/kayaking/outdoor stuff shd come after Christmas. their sales are really good! up to 70%. We bought Chaco sandals at $150 NZ, Adidas dri-fit from Rebel Sport as low as $28NZ. A 4 man tent after discount is only $77 NZ and since the NZ currency is lower now.... things are abt .15% cheaper.
Singapore
I do miss all of you, esp at my work place. Do take care and enjoy school!
I wish i had pics to show you. Will upload when I'm back. Take care all!
