Colic and all things fun

So,i went to the clinic to see a western doctor for a second opinion. This was on the same day, I still had that gastric like squeezey, bloody painful thing on my upper abdomen, just below my sternum ( by the way, do you know that they are taking studies of the human body out of the syllabus?) I have many comments on that but nothing in black n white ya.

So anyway, I was in and out of the doctor's office before superman can wear his inner underwear (does he wear one underneath the one he wears outside?) Hmmm.... *ponders* so anyway, I told him watever and he said colic. Then I was like, "aint that for babies?!!!" he said well, adults can have it too. Lay me down on the table (no massages but some tapping of fingers etc) sent me off with 3 types of pills, one for gastric, one for stomach cramps and stomach pain. $28 dollars. Oh, I also asked him to take my blood pressure. it was normal!! 110/70.

So the point here is, which medical practitioner is better? the one who spent like 1hr with you, massaged you, talked to you (some jokes too) and asked you if you wanted chinese medicine or the one who just came straight to the point and cured you within like 2 minutes?

Anyway, I realised I made tonnes of spelling errors which looks like bad grammer/verb (whats the difference?- not bothered) just to jet you know they were typos, my grammer/verb/adjs are not all THAT bad.....

Had a greatweekend after a miserable Friday. Was suffering from morning till evening and felt better on sat morning. Went for tennis. Goodness! I was so off! Had to take like mini naps during water breaks. Really. Put my head on the tumbler and almost fell asleep from the heat. Din play as well but I'll feel even worse if i didnt go. I'll be miserable.

So Sat we went to Ikea, crowded. So many kids! not very cute when they are blocking my/the way. Went to this cool place for dinner. Dampsey's Hut. I must tell you about this area

Dampsey

Opposite Botanic Gardens, it looks like some haunted place but there are many coole alfresco restaurants near by. Its difficult to get to if you dont have a car and it super pitch black. Its somewhere near the MInistry of Foreign Affairs. There were afew, we went to Dampsey's Hut. I've been there before with YY and KB. Food's great! we had teriyaki chicken and dory fillet. and just chilled. Drove around.

HOlland V
Its been like a million years since I went there. It was so changed. Used to go there to chill during uni.I remember there was a Charlie's Bar and A death by chocolate. Its madness to go there on a sat night. we just drove past. So happening! Cold storage in Holland V is 24hrs!!!!!!!

The daily scoop
For my friends living in the western hemisphere.... there is a superb ice cream parlor nearby. Sunset Arcade in sunset way, Fantastic ice cream. Great Waffles! Cool flavours too! www.thedailyscoop.com Highly recommended.

Bras Basah
Great place for books! here's a secret for students. Want a 10yr series? (do you know what 10 yr series is extinct?, they only publish 5 yr series now) go to bras basah!)look for it in the 2nd hand shops.

Va va voom cafe
As promised, I returned and tried the pho beef noodle. Good. $5.80. Brought family too! We shall go again with you SIL!

Low Blood Pressure

Low Blood Pressure
Yeah, that was what I was diagnosed with in Ma Kuang in Serangoon. Went in, there was a patient before me, so i read some mags. They had my details captured in the system, by ic number. So i went in thi s little room, He has a chinese doctor, can speak a little english, which complemented my little mandarin. Told him about my cold clammy, stomach pain, aches etc. It was a nice conversation, but this time when I didnt understand, I asked " Na shi shem me?" or "ing wen shi shem ma?" which translates to "lu kong shi me?" or " apa u cakap?" (did I mention I failed my malay oral) or in good english "What is it called in English?" {just showing off whats left of my linguistic skills)

Anyway, he took my pulse( you know, like those chinese drama series) but it listened to it for a very long time, on my right, then left wrist. Why left? Dont know.....
Anyway, after some blabber and exchange of words in english and mandarin, he looked at my tongue and took my blood pressure and diagnosed me with low blood pressure. 90/60. Not abnormally low but within the low healthy range. Perhaps thats why the National Blood Centre has never made me a member. I'm anaemic in addition to having low blood pressure..... the person who gets my blood would have more problems to deal with.

So,we talked etc, he asked if I wanted a massage. Of course! Ma kuang Massotherapies are solid and effective. You dont get a nice flower to view when they ask you to stick your head in the little hole on the massage bed, nor do you get to listen to soothing balinese music and the lights are not dimmed. Instead you see his shoes, listen to the pharmacist grind up some chinese herbs and the room is flooded in bright white light. And as I mentioned in some blogs before, its not a relaxing massage. Its like killer, ironing out the suanness in the back. Feels like hell during the massage but it really cures the aches.

So he gave me some herbs to take, sent me off with $53 dollars less in my account but my back is ache free. Cant say much for my feeling of weakness or sudden pin prick like aches in my stomach and everywhere else.

Tennis from the ShiFu

OKie, just in case i click the wrong button, I'll put in another entry.

Had a tennis lesson from an ex National Player. Forget the title. He is a personal coach anyone who love to have! What makes a good coach? Most of the time I just get drills with a small grp of 5-6 ppl. Not bad but having personal attention to all your little mistakes and idiosyncrasies. Describing the session I had with him will do him injustice. Go try for yourself! He corrected my attitude towards tennis basically. My footwork, my stance, my habits. He didnt enforce "THE BASICS OF TENNIS 101". He just noted my style of playing and got me to improve and gave me good hints and tactics. He taught me how to serve and I aced ss twice! HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! The whole mindset of tennis and the dynamics of it. WOW!

Didnt have enough, I had another private coaching with another coach who was great too. It was fun! I love to have coaches who really note and respect your style of playing and correct it from there. Had fun training and learning.

When I went for the SSC course a few years back, it was like a factory mould press style. EVERYONE had to do the same thing, comfortable or not, he will enforce BASICS OF TENNIS 101 on you till the series of lessons end. Dead beat. Of course that was much cheaper lar.

Cant wait for the US OPEN. Nadal's gonna rule the court, make federer sweat and force him into early retirement. HAHAHAHAHA...... Justine's gonna beat Amelie this time! Well, all the best to my fav players!

Till then, stay happy and stay tuned for more stuff from me. Love ya all!

To my friends

Hi everyone! Its been a pretty long while since I blogged. First things first.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULES! I know I missed it my miles but I hope you had a great time on your birthday. Stay young and optimistic and ever so cheerful!

Happy Birthday Cupcake! Kisses & Hugs!

Actually I blogged once before but something happened, some click of the worng button etc and everything was gone. Anyway, I have tonnes to blog about. Shall we start with food or tennis?

Food: Been to so many great places lately.

Liquid Kitchen
We just went there yesterday. They have really good meals and deals. Most people think they are just a dessert and drink hangout but.......
Decor: cosy, great comfy chairs, tv (grab the remote and change it from stupid soccer to great tennis!) nice atmosphere and music

Food: Great stuff, we had the bangers and mash and the pasta. Not too bad, got some standard. Their desserts are just lip smacking yummy!

Deals: At least their happy hour is real. 20% off drinks unlike across the road where a pint (1L) cost $18 (outside only about $9)and their happy hour is buy 1 get one free. We're like .."duh!!!" They also have some 50% off and some other deals everyday of the week like, show them 3 different colors etc... fun.

Rating: 8/10, not very ex, great food, fantastic place to catch up with friends, drink and chill

Best part: they open till late, like 1am and have many outlets. Serangoon garden, bukit timah, east coast rd, river valley etc

Va va Voom! Vietnamese
Bright and sunny orangey place, just opposite Raffles Hotel on Siah Street is this fantastic Vietnamese place. Cheap and Good! Highly recommended!
Food: we tried the grilled chop with rice and the spicy lemongrass beef curry with rice. Next time I'll try the pho.
Rating: 8.5/10. shiok!!!

Spanish Tapas n Bar
Located in Clarke Quay, quite prominently facing the river, you'll not miss this place, just take a peek in and you'll want your living room to look like this! the chairs were low so you can just slide down and catch a siesta while the food arrives, the music is so groovy and the decor puts you in Spain in a flash. Nothing better than to order a spanish cocktail and chill and unwind after a hard day's work!

Food: We had the seafood paella ($33+ for 2-3 px), lovely! and calamari, okiela.
Recommended for: girls who love to snack on tapas and chat for hours...couples, aiyah everyone lah... even if you have a one year old....
Rating: 8.3/10
Return: definitely! wanna go babes?
